Deb has been a faculty member at FLAME University, Pune. a visiting faculty at IIM Ahmedabad and a Teaching Fellow at University College London. He has taught courses in topics related to public policy, education and research methods, and been a member of PhD thesis examination committee at IIM Ahmedabad. Besides teaching, he has organised workshops for PhD students and early career researchers.  Prior to being an academic, Deb worked for 16 years with the Indian School of Business (ISB), Yahoo! and GE. During his 10 years at ISB, he was involved in various aspects of higher education management and administration.

Research Interests:  

Deb analyses various aspects of higher education (HE) at the systemic and organizational levels. In particular, he is interested in questions that relate to the public values and outcomes of HE institutions. He examines the relationship of HE institutions with the regions, industries and communities and how HE institutions contribute to social, cultural and economic development. Deb is also interested in how various types of organisations embrace publicness and partner with communities and governments to achieve both business growth and deliver public impact.
