Rathin’s primary research area is focused on policy, planning, and development, related to public and community sanitation and governance. He successfully carried out his doctoral research on complex ‘slum-sanitation problems in India’. His research also explores how technology can help in assessing and/or addressing societal challenges. He was also associated with several other interesting research related to Health-care Assessment, Happiness Index, Waste management, Hands-On Engineering MOOC, Work & Stress, Urbanization & Demography, Toilet Automation, etc. Prior to joining IIT Delhi, he worked as a Project Manager at e-Yantra, CSE Department, IIT Bombay, where he was engaged in setting up embedded system & robotics labs across India, research & development, project management, research communication, strategic Input to PI, public relation activity, mentoring students and staffs, planning, and execution of tasks, etc. He was also engaged in teaching “ICT for Socio-Economic Development”. His research contribution paved the way to get American Geophysical Union (AGU) Grant from AGU, USA. His administrative activity brought him the ‘Best Office Bearer’ and ‘Citation’ awards. He also received the fully-funded GATE and MHRD scholarship for pursuing his Post-Graduate study and Doctoral research. He is dedicated to making a difference by working on socially-critical policy-relevant complex real-world challenges, which are primarily oriented toward the underprivileged members of our society.
