Faculty

Anshu Ogra is a faculty member at the School of Public Policy, IIT Delhi. Her research examines institutions, disaster management plans, and the politics of risk, asking how risk governance can be reimagined to enable transformative adaptation. Conceptually, she draws on Feminist Science Studies to treat risk knowledge as situated shaped by bodies, locations, institutional histories, mandates, and power relations and uses this to build approaches for stronger objectivity in policy analysis. Methodologically, she advances institutional mapping using a situated-knowledge framework, spanning:  institutions that assess risk for policy and institutions that are part of the risk landscape.

Policy impact:  She works closely with policy-impact organisations to strengthen disaster risk management and climate adaptation practice. Key collaborators include the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on research and learning to improve how Disaster Management Plans are designed, used, and updated.  In her other projects, she has worked with various district authorities across the country and the Delhi municipality.
