Soutrik’s competence and expertise straddles different disciplinary boundaries such as agriculture, development and innovation studies. He has developed an interdisciplinary research trajectory around understanding social, institutional and policy processes encompassing development and technological interventions to areas such as agriculture and rural development. In so doing, he has gained field research experiences in three countries such as India, South Africa and the Philippines. Hitherto, Soutrik has published his research in several international journals of high repute. Soutrik did his Master’s and Doctoral Studies from Wageningen School of Social Sciences (WASS), Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He was awarded with the WU-Fellowship (2007-09) by the Executive Board of Wageningen University and Research Centre for his Master’s study, and for his Doctoral program, he received NWO-WOTRO Fellowship (2010-2015) from the Science for Global Development Programmes, Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO-WOTRO). In 2012-13, he became the WASS-Visiting Research Scholar at the Department of Community and Environmental Sociology at University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Prior to joining SPP-IIT Delhi, Soutrik held an Assistant Professor position at the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata.
