Chetan is an Associate Professor with Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Delhi. He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and PhD in Computer Science, both from IIT Delhi in 1999, and 2012 respectively. He has also worked for over 10 years in the industry as entrepreneur, where he spent his time on bringing three different cutting edge technology products from research to the market. Chetan's research area is Computer Vision and Machine Learning, and he works on developing new algorithms to recover useful and interesting information and insights from image and video data using conventional and modern machine learning and deep learning techniques. His specific interests lie in understanding streaming videos from wearable cameras, and developing scalable algorithms for structured prediction tasks. He is also committed to applications of his research for large scale societal problems, and his specific interests include developing AI techniques for early cancer detection (specifically breast, gall-bladder, and pancreatic cancer), Econometrics (deriving policy decision inputs from satellite and mobile phone images), and building assistive tools to help visually impaired people.
