Title: A Conversation with Mr. Anant Goenka on News in the digital age
Abstract
With the intervention of technology, journalistic practices are continuously evolving. This has impacted the nature of technology being used in
newsrooms. In this conversation, Mr. Goenka will share with us how Indian Express has undergone this change and the challenges it facesin
the process. He will also talk about the business part of news media, the changing profiles of journalists and the new skill sets required for the
job. This conversation will also focus on the transition of news media from analogue to digital and the various challenges and struggles the
journalists and editors go through, along with promoters, to keep the journalistic banner high. Most importantly, this conversation will reflect
on how the media influences different kinds of policies and decisions that the government takes.
Bio:
Anant Goenka is the Executive Director of The Indian Express Group. The Indian Express Group is one of the world's largest digital news media groups, with over2 00 million unique monthly users in seven languages worldwide. In November 2022, its flagship was ranked the world's 16th-largest news site. Anant is a Marshall School of Business brand management graduate at the University of Southern California. Anant's address at the Gateway of India on the 10th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, his writings on Punjab drugs, the India Pakistan border parade and the future of media in a polarised climate have all been widely shared and discussed. Economic Times recognized him as India's 40 under-40 business leaders. He has also received the International Advertising Association Global Compass Award. News 24 and Hello! Magazine awarded him Media Entrepreneur of the Year. GQ has listed him as one of India's 50 most influential young Indians.
